Now that I have the chance to come inside and enjoy the warmth and kindness of a true family, I am ready to find one of my own.

Here I Am!!

A Little Guidance Is All I need!

He is a GSP/EP cross- full bred papered parents, accidental breeding. He is absolutely beautiful.




He was a house dog before the family moved to this home, since then he has been kept outdoors-

He has had very little training, but does obey his owner, and he does respond better to male voices at first.

The answer to Kirby is that he NEEDS EXERCISE we ran him one afternoon for 50 minutes, brought him home, put him on a lead, and walked him for 45. Jacob (my 12 year old) walked him and he did good for not having ever been leash walked before. We then brought him in the house- The dogs were all crazy, and I know it was because Kirby was so glad to be in the house.

He has great potential as a companion, he just needs someone who will spend some time with him, and needs some space to run- like all sporting breeds. Both parents were hunters, but Kirby has never been in the field. He is quite game attentive though, so I believe he could prove to be a hunter, and is very food motivated, so I think he will be an easy to train dog too.

He is currently being kept in an outdoor kennel, so I would like to see him in a foster home if we could find someone to take him

We go down and bring him to our back yard when we can- but that only happens if Steve Jacob and I are all home and can be in the back yard to watch everyone. Pete is the escape artist, but it takes all 3 of us to watch out for 4 crazy pointers!

He is good with kids, and lived with a cat for that first year and a half (he will be 3 this July 4 if I remember correctly)
He has played well with all of my dogs. He does have lots of energy, but I am thinking that that might level out once he was on a regular exercise program.
Since he gets out so rarely now, all you see is that explosive energy of a pent up dog- which some people lookat as "wild" I don't see that at all, he just needs to get out more, and even being fostered in a house I think would help him with all of that too.

My ideal home for Kirby would have a large fenced yard with an owner(s) who ran, or were at least very active, and wanted to have a playmate for their activities.
Close proximity to a dog park would be wonderful. I would like formal training, or an experience owner who is familiar with the needs of a young sporting breed.

Kirby Needs Help!

This dog is really a wonderful dog just waiting to find the right family. His current owners picked him out as a playmate for their kids- not fully understanding the energy potential of a pointer!!
He is just more active than the family can handle.
